AT&T is seeking an experienced Data Scientist who will work closely with product managers and end customers within Mobile Network, Customer Care & Entertainment Business Units to elaborate and formulate hypothetical insights to solve complex industry-wide problems innovatively by applying cutting edge solutions, machine learning techniques and models.

Roles and Responsibilities:

As an integral member of the Data Analytics team, you will work together with others through the full lifecycle of delivering these insights into production.

You will leverage existing large and complex datasets (including our uniquely rich mobile device-sourced datasets), as well as designing new data sources, that can be used to provide statistical insights and predictions, which deliver unprecedented value to our customers.

You will perform statistical analyses with statistical packages such as R, Python, MLLIB, and will implement any software required for accessing and handling the data appropriately.

You will serve as a functional lead and mentor to other scientific and engineering employees within the organization, and will represent scientific domain expertise as needed with external vendors, partners, and employees of other organizations.

You will thrive in creating solutions to real world problems, and seeing the results of your work deployed at truly impressive scales within AT&T for a variety of use cases and customers.

Key Competencies and Skills:

• Experience creating models utilizing Machine Learning and/or Statistics
• Great intuition, curiosity and scepticism when analysing data
• Exposure to the Hadoop Ecosystem tools (e.g. Apache Spark, Zeppelin) or other Big Data technologies
• Experience manipulating big and noisy datasets (e.g. SQL, Hive, Scala, HDFS)
• Thirst for continuous learning and desire to look for innovative and creative solutions to problems
• Highly motivated to work within a close nit fast-paced agile product development team, working with local and remote teams, as part of the larger CDO Business Unit and AT&T family
• Collaboration with other data scientists, software engineers & QA to create solid technical designs, and robust, maintainable and testable implementations
• Preferred: BSCS, EE, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent (advanced degree prefer) or Business Analyst nanodegree; or equivalent experience

• Passionate about and have experience of developing Advanced Insights for the mobile industry, but other domains/industry experience considered
• Committer to Open Source Projects or development of personal projects
• Experience working with Agile / Scrum methodologies and processes

Education and Qualifications:

BSCS, EE, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent (advanced degree prefer)
