AT&T has a commitment to delivering Software Defined Networks, with aggressive targets on expanding the use of SDN throughout our network. AT&T Labs is at the heart of AT&T's engineering organisation, and following the recent acquisition of the Vyatta software router, we are looking for a summer intern interested in software development / test, to participate in new software features and to help with the development of our automation infrastructure.

We can offer you an unparalleled opportunity to gain in-depth networking knowledge, working alongside a diverse and industry leading team of network engineers. You will be developing networking components, including use of open source code and virtualization, to support delivery of customer network services and for deployment in our own network infrastructure.

This is a great opportunity to work as part of a dynamic, multicultural engineering team, and to participate in AT&T's network transformation.

We are located in the heart of the Thames Valley, in the centre of Reading just a few minutes walk from the railway station.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Approaching your final year of a computing-related degree, you are someone who is inquisitive and excels at problem solving, you are comfortable with networking and Python (or similar OO language) on Linux platforms (BitBucket, Atlassian, Jenkins and Robot would be a bonus), you can demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a distributed team, own the delivery on your deadlines and commitments and are unafraid of new challenges

Key Competencies and Skills:

Software engineering experience required (C, perl, and/or python). Knowledge of computer networking, Linux and open source desirable.

Education and Qualifications:
